President Bola Tinubu directed Nigeria’s newly appointed ambassadors and high commissioners to improve the country’s global image. He spoke during an induction course for the envoys at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abuja on Monday.
President Bola Tinubu addressed the group of career and non-career diplomats. He charged them to aggressively pursue foreign investments for Nigeria. Tinubu also asked the envoys to strengthen strategic partnerships with other nations.
The President explained that their appointments showed the administration’s confidence in their ability. He said the diplomats must advance Nigeria’s interests on the international stage. Tinubu added that they needed to reposition the country’s image in line with current diplomatic realities.
President Bola Tinubu stressed the importance of professionalism, integrity, and patriotism in diplomatic work. He reminded the envoys that they acted as both government representatives and custodians of Nigeria’s reputation abroad.
“You have a special responsibility in helping to reposition Nigeria in global affairs. The world is watching,” Tinubu stated. He made the remark while opening the induction program for the new ambassadors and high commissioners.
President Bola Tinubu announced a reordering of Nigeria’s foreign policy priorities during the session. He linked the changes to the need for stronger economic diplomacy and global engagement.
The envoys, who included 31 career diplomats and 34 non-career appointees, received their postings after Senate confirmation. Tinubu had approved their deployment to various countries and the United Nations earlier in the year. Officials said the moves aimed to boost Nigeria’s voice in international affairs.
The induction course prepared the diplomats for their roles. President Bola Tinubu urged them to focus on practical outcomes that enhanced Nigeria’s standing worldwide. He highlighted the evolving global environment as a key factor in their assignments.
