Liverpool Beat Crystal Palace 3-1 to Keep UEFA Champions League Dream Alive

Alexander Isak broke the deadlock in the 35th minute after Alexis Mac Allister’s effort from outside the box fell perfectly into the Swede’s path. Isak controlled the ball brilliantly before firing a shot into the ground that bounced over the diving Dean Henderson for his first Premier League goal at Anfield.

Five minutes later, Liverpool doubled their advantage. Freddie Woodman produced a stunning save to deny Jean-Philippe Mateta’s close-range header, and the Reds turned defence into attack instantly. Curtis Jones then released Andy Robertson with a precise through‑ball, and the Scottish left-back slotted calmly into the bottom corner.

Mohamed Salah came off injured just before the hour mark. The Egyptian winger pulled up with a left hamstring problem after feeling discomfort. Consequently, Jeremie Frimpong replaced him immediately.

Crystal Palace pulled a goal back in the 71st minute through Daniel Muñoz. The right‑back lifted the ball into an empty net after Woodman injured himself while blocking an initial chance from Ismaila Sarr. Muñoz’s goal, therefore, set up a nervy finale for the home side.

Florian Wirtz, however secured the points deep into stoppage time. The German attacking midfielder drove an emphatic finish into the Kop end, wrapping up Liverpool’s third consecutive league victory.

The win lifted Liverpool above Aston Villa into fourth place, after Villa fell to defeat against Fulham earlier on Saturday. Furthermore, Arne Slot’s side extended their lead over sixth‑placed Brighton to eight points.
