Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, has clarified that he is not a registered voter in Osun State and therefore has no direct role in determining the outcome of the state’s forthcoming governorship election.
The governor made the clarification while responding to comments linking him to the Osun governorship race. He stressed that the choice of who becomes governor rests solely with eligible voters in Osun State, in accordance with Nigeria’s democratic process.
Uzodimma, who is also Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), noted that while political parties and their members may campaign for candidates, the final decision belongs to the electorate on election day. He reiterated that he does not vote in Osun and cannot determine the outcome of the election.
His remarks come amid heightened political activities ahead of the Osun governorship election, with political parties intensifying campaigns across the state.
The clarification adds to ongoing discussions surrounding the roles of political stakeholders during election campaigns, while reaffirming that the electoral process remains in the hands of registered voters.
