Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency raided multiple drug hubs in the Federal Capital Territory and arrested 132 suspects. The operation took place between April 11 and 25, 2026. NDLEA officials described the action as part of sustained efforts to disrupt drug trafficking networks in the capital.
NDLEA officers gathered intelligence for several weeks before they launched the raids. They struck at known drug bunks and joints across Abuja. The coordinated strikes dismantled several operational bases where traffickers stored and distributed illicit substances. Officials said the targeted locations served as major supply points for cannabis and other drugs in the city.
During the raids, NDLEA operatives seized a total of 220 kilograms of assorted illicit substances. The recovered items included 214.79 kilograms of skunk, a potent strain of cannabis. They also confiscated 5.524 kilograms of Diazepam and 2.352 kilograms of other substances. The agency stated that these quantities reflected active distribution activities within the targeted hubs.
NDLEA arrested 132 individuals during the operation. The suspects included operators and associates linked to the drug bunks. Some of the arrested persons, such as Abdullahi Danjuma and 10 others, faced initial questioning at the FCT Command. NDLEA officials said they processed all suspects according to established procedures and prepared them for further investigation and possible prosecution.
NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi confirmed the details of the bust in a statement. He noted that the operation formed part of broader national campaigns against drug abuse and trafficking. Babafemi added that the agency would sustain pressure on similar networks to prevent resurgence in the capital.
The successful raids underscored NDLEA’s focus on intelligence-driven actions in urban centers. Authorities transferred the seized substances and suspects to appropriate facilities for documentation and legal processing. The operation ended without reported casualties.
