Nigeria held Poland to a 2-2 draw in an international friendly match played in Warsaw on Wednesday.
Terem Moffi put Nigeria ahead in the 23rd minute. The forward finished a well-worked move to give the Super Eagles an early lead. Nigeria controlled large parts of the first half and created several chances.
Poland responded strongly. Kacper Potulski equalised in the 45+1 minute with a clinical strike just before halftime. The home side grew into the game and tested Nigeria’s defence repeatedly.
Nigeria regained the advantage in the 77th minute. Paul Onuachu converted a penalty to make the score 2-1. The tall striker showed composure from the spot as the Super Eagles pushed for a win. Coach Eric Chelle’s side defended deep but looked dangerous on counter-attacks.
Poland refused to accept defeat. Przemyslaw Wisniewski scored a stoppage-time equaliser in the 90+5 minute with a powerful effort. The late goal ensured the match ended in a draw after an open and attacking contest.
Wilfred Ndidi captained Nigeria while Robert Lewandowski led the Polish attack but failed to find the net. Both teams displayed strong spirit throughout the 90 minutes. The result gave Nigeria valuable experience ahead of future competitions.
