JUST IN: Tinubu Set to Travel to Saudi Arabia for Umrah on Thursday

Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the President of Nigeria, departed Abuja on Thursday for Makkah in Saudi Arabi. He travelled to perform Umrah and offer prayers for the country.

Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, announced the trip in a statement on Wednesday. The statement explained that the visit offered an opportunity for spiritual reflection and devotion. It further stated that the President would pray for Nigeria’s peace, unity, stability and continued progress.

While in Makkah, Tinubu performed the religious rites associated with Umrah. Onanuga said the President sought Allah’s guidance and blessings for Nigeria and its people during the exercise. Umrah involves a pilgrimage to the holy city that Muslims can undertake at any time of the year.

Before leaving Abuja, Tinubu commissioned equipment acquired by the Nigerian Air Force. The ceremony took place at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport. The equipment was intended to support the air force in its operations.

The President was scheduled to return to Nigeria the following week after completing the spiritual exercise. The Presidency confirmed that the trip combined personal devotion with prayers for the nation’s wellbeing.
