Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has declared Friday, August 14, 2026, a work-free day for public service workers across the state ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.
The declaration was announced on Wednesday as the state prepares for the August 15 governorship poll. The directive is intended to enable public servants to participate in the electoral process.
The state government’s announcement was contained in a circular issued by the Head of Service, Elder Ayanleye Aina.
Governor Adeleke also urged workers and other registered voters to participate in the election and exercise their civic responsibility.
The work-free day will allow affected workers to make necessary arrangements ahead of the election, which is scheduled to take place across Osun State on Saturday.
The governor’s latest directive comes weeks after his administration declared Tuesday, July 28, a work-free day for public servants to enable them to collect their Permanent Voter Cards ahead of the election. The earlier directive covered state public servants, including local government workers and staff of tertiary institutions.
The Osun governorship election is scheduled for Saturday, August 15, 2026, with Adeleke seeking to retain his position as governor.
The declaration is expected to facilitate the movement and participation of public servants as the state enters the final stage of preparations for the poll.
