JUST IN: Bola Ahmed Tinubu Moves Three-Nation Trip to Sunday

President Bola Tinubu rescheduled the start of his three-nation diplomatic trip. He shifted departure from Saturday to Sunday, May 3, 2026.

Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy Bayo Onanuga announced the change on Saturday. Onanuga wrote on X, “President Tinubu has rescheduled his three-nation trip to begin on Sunday, rather than Saturday as previously indicated.” Officials gave no immediate reason for the one-day delay.

Earlier on Friday, Onanuga released details of the trip. President Bola Tinubu planned to depart Abuja on Saturday for the visits. The itinerary began in France before moving to Nairobi, Kenya.

In Kenya, President Bola Tinubu was set to attend the Africa-France Summit from May 11 to 12. French President Emmanuel Macron and Kenyan President William Ruto co-chair the event. The summit addresses energy transition, digital transformation, climate action and global financial reforms.

After Kenya, President Bola Tinubu planned to travel to Kigali, Rwanda. He aimed to participate in the Africa CEO Forum scheduled for May 14 and 15. The forum, organised with the International Finance Corporation, gathers business leaders and policymakers to discuss economic growth and investment.

At both summits, President Bola Tinubu intended to highlight his administration’s reforms. He also scheduled high-level meetings with global and African business leaders. Several ministers and senior aides were to accompany him. He expected to return to Abuja after the Rwanda engagement.

The rescheduling caused a minor adjustment but left core engagements unchanged. The trip underscores Nigeria’s commitment to stronger partnerships with African nations and France.
