Mahmud Sadis Buba announced his withdrawal from the race for the Sabon Gari Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives on Saturday. Buba, a 30-year-old aspirant under the All Progressives Congress, made the decision public through a letter addressed to the Kaduna State APC Chairman.
Buba cited party reconciliation efforts as the main reason for his exit. In the statement he shared on his Facebook page, Buba explained that he took the step after consultations with family members, political allies, and party stakeholders. He added that the move aimed to promote unity within the APC and support a consensus arrangement for the 2027 general elections.
The aspirant gained public attention earlier in May after he passed the APC screening exercise. During the screening, Buba confirmed he was 30 years old and the firstborn of nine siblings. He said community leaders had called on him to contest the seat to serve the people of Sabon Gari. His youthful appearance sparked widespread reactions on social media at the time.
Buba reaffirmed his commitment to the party in his withdrawal letter. He thanked the Kaduna State APC leadership and Governor Uba Sani for the opportunity to participate in the process. Buba also pledged to continue supporting the APC and its candidates in future elections.
The withdrawal followed reconciliation moves by APC stakeholders in Kaduna State. Officials noted that the decision strengthened the party ahead of the primaries and general polls. Buba had emerged as an early contender after he obtained the expression of interest and nomination forms.
The Sabon Gari Federal Constituency race continues with other APC aspirants now positioned for the nomination. Buba’s exit marks the end of his bid but highlights ongoing efforts to build consensus within the party in Kaduna.
