Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda on Friday commended President Bola Tinubu for approving the expansion of the electricity substation in Kankia Local Government Area.
The governor spoke at the commissioning of the upgraded facility. He said the project would strengthen electricity infrastructure and improve power supply to residents of Katsina State.
Radda described the project as one of the Federal Government’s interventions aimed at improving infrastructure and delivering the dividends of democracy to Nigerians.
“On behalf of the government and the people of Katsina State, I wish to express our profound gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the expansion of this substation to improve electricity supply for our people,” he said.
He called on residents of Kankia to protect the infrastructure. “The project has been completed, and we are here today to formally commission it. Honourable Minister, please convey our sincere appreciation to Mr President for this remarkable gesture towards the people of Katsina State,” the governor added.
The commissioning formed part of a series of development activities in the state. Earlier on Friday, officials held a groundbreaking ceremony for another transmission substation project in Mashi Local Government Area.
That project involves a 2 x 60MVA, 132/33kV transmission substation with a combined capacity of 120 megavolt-amperes. The Transmission Company of Nigeria is executing the work, with completion targeted for March 2027.
Radda also thanked Tinubu for approving three transmission substation projects for Katsina State. He noted that these investments would boost electricity transmission and support economic activities across the state.
