Erling Haaland Fires Manchester City Ahead of Arsenal in Title Clash

Manchester City defeated Arsenal 2-1 in a tense Premier League clash at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday. The victory handed the defending champions fresh momentum in the title race.

Manchester City midfielder Rayan Cherki opened the scoring in the 16th minute. He used quick footwork to create space inside the box and fired past the Arsenal goalkeeper. The home crowd erupted as the hosts took control of the opening exchanges.

Arsenal forward Kai Havertz equalized two minutes later. He converted a precise cross to level the scores at 1-1. The visitors grew in confidence after the goal and pushed forward with purpose. Both teams traded attacks in a frantic first half.

Manchester City striker Erling Haaland then struck the winner in the 65th minute. He pounced on a loose ball inside the penalty area and swept it home with his left foot. The Norwegian had gone without a league goal since February. His finish lifted the roof off the Etihad and gave City a 2-1 lead they refused to surrender.

The result left Arsenal three points clear at the top of the table. Manchester City still held a game in hand and could move ahead on goal difference with a win on Wednesday. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta watched his side miss a late chance to equalize when Havertz headed over in stoppage time.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola praised the character shown by his players after the match. The win extended the hosts’ strong home form and kept the title battle alive until the final weeks of the season.
