BREAKING: Chelsea Beat Rivals to Morgan Rogers, Agree £117m Deal

Chelsea agreed a club record deal to sign Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa. The London club reached a verbal agreement with Aston Villa on Saturday for the attacking midfielder in a £117 million transfer.

Chelsea hijacked the move after Arsenal showed strong interest. Rogers chose Chelsea over Arsenal. He accepted personal terms on a six-year contract through 2032, with an option for an additional year. A medical examination is scheduled for Monday.

Rogers impressed during the 2025-26 season at Aston Villa. The England international contributed 14 goals and 12 assists. His performances helped Villa secure a Europa League triumph and Champions League qualification.

The fee surpasses Chelsea’s previous record for Enzo Fernández. It also sets a new benchmark for British player transfers. Rogers broke through from Middlesbrough in 2024 before joining Villa.

New Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso played a key role in persuading Rogers. Sources close to the negotiations confirmed that Rogers preferred the move to Stamford Bridge.

Aston Villa accepted Chelsea’s bid after initial interest from Arsenal. The clubs finalized key details rapidly on Saturday. Chelsea officials met with Villa representatives and closed the agreement at the £117 million package.
