AC Milan reached a verbal agreement with Ruben Amorim to appoint him as the new head coach. The club moved quickly after parting ways with previous coach Massimiliano Allegri. Amorim accepted all conditions presented by the Serie A side.
Fabrizio Romano reported the development on Monday. He stated that the verbal agreement covered a contract until June 2028 plus an option until June 2029. Amorim will sign the deal this week. The 41-year-old Portuguese coach agreed to the full terms without hesitation.
Ruben Amorim previously managed Manchester United before his departure earlier in 2026. He held talks with AC Milan officials in Portugal last week. The appointment followed a thorough search by the Rossoneri after they missed out on Champions League qualification.
Milan officials chose Amorim over other candidates including Marco Rose and Marcel Keizer. The club sought a manager who could rebuild the squad and restore competitive edge. Amorim brought his tactical approach and youth development record to the negotiations.
The agreement also provided financial relief for Manchester United. The Premier League club stood to save significant compensation payments once Amorim joined AC Milan. Milan prepared to integrate the new coach ahead of the upcoming season.
Amorim expressed readiness to take on the challenge at San Siro. The move marked a fresh start for both the coach and the historic Italian club. Fans awaited official confirmation and the start of pre-season preparations under the new leadership.
