Senegal took control from the start. Midfielder Habib Diarra tapped in the opening goal in the 25th minute after Ismaila Sarr’s header struck the post. Moments later, in the 89th minute, midfielder Youri Tielemans powered a header from Leandro Trossard’s cross to level the score at 2-2. The rapid turnaround forced extra time.
The contest remained tense through extra time. In the 120th minute plus five, referee Héctor Martínez awarded Belgium a penalty after a video review showed Lamine Camara fouled Tielemans. Tielemans stepped up and calmly converted the spot-kick into the top right corner. Belgium advanced while Senegal exited despite a strong performance.
