Atiku Issues Warning: “Nothing Must Happen to Peter Obi”

Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, spoke out after Peter Obi raised concerns about his safety. Peter Obi, the 2027 presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, had alleged in a recent podcast that the government targeted his businesses and life.

Atiku Abubakar declared that the true test of democracy lies in how safely opposition figures exercise their rights. He warned that the Presidency must protect all citizens regardless of political views. “Nothing must happen to Peter Obi,” Atiku Abubakar stated. He added that an injury to one opposition leader diminishes every opposition voice.

Atiku Abubakar also demanded the immediate release of Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State. He linked this to broader security issues and urged the government to bring home all abducted Nigerians. “Release Mallam Nasir El-Rufai,” Atiku Abubakar said. He emphasized that every Nigerian has a stake in defending the democratic space.

Atiku Abubakar responded to reports of personal insults from the Presidency toward Peter Obi. He called for restraint and due process instead of intimidation. Atiku Abubakar concluded that the safety of opposition leaders remains a constitutional obligation for the state.
