President Bola Ahmed Tinubu stated that his administration laid the foundation for a new Nigeria that worked for the common prosperity of all citizens. He made the remarks on Tuesday during the inauguration of two service carriageways of the Southern Parkway in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
Tinubu, who was represented by the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, noted that the reforms in the last three years proved tough but necessary. He pointed to visible results in infrastructure development.
Tinubu explained that ongoing projects demonstrated real progress. “The results are here – the roads, the bridges, the rails, and housing. We are laying the foundation for a new Nigeria that works – and works for all and for our common prosperity,” Tinubu said.
He urged Nigerians to support the Renewed Hope Agenda. “Stay with us, support us, and stand by the Renewed Hope Agenda. The best of Abuja and the best of Nigeria are still ahead of us,” he added.
Tinubu detailed the benefits of the Southern Parkway project. The road aligned with the Abuja Master Plan and enhanced vehicular circulation in the southern part of the city. It provided vital connections across different phases of the FCT.
He noted that residents in areas such as Dutse, Gudu, Gaduwa, and Duboyi faced heavy congestion daily. Once completed, the service carriageways would reduce travel time, ease business operations, and improve family life.
“That is the dividend of democracy, and that is the renewed hope that you can feel and you can touch every day,” Tinubu stated.
Tinubu described the inauguration as part of a larger infrastructure revolution. His administration refused excuses and chose action over the past three years. He cited other completed and ongoing roads in the FCT as evidence of transformation.
He commended FCT Minister Nyesom Wike for his project delivery record. “Through your action, and not just talk alone, you’ve shown that truly, you are Mr Project,” Tinubu said.
Wike assured that the project would reach completion in January 2027. This development formed part of efforts to deliver on promises and build a functional Nigeria for all.
