Former Abia State Governor Senator Orji Uzor Kalu pledged to pray for Nigeria unity until his death. He made the declaration on Tuesday while receiving a souvenir from Sokoto State Governor Ahmed Aliyu in Sokoto. Kalu visited the state to commission 10 road projects executed by the Aliyu administration in the Arkilla New Layout.
Kalu stressed that insecurity hindered economic progress. He called for increased investment and stronger measures to tackle security challenges across the country.
Kalu explained that current insecurity blocked Nigeria’s quest for a vibrant economy. He noted that such challenges prevented improvements in citizens’ living conditions.
“The current insecurity in the country is hindering Nigeria’s quest for a more vibrant economy capable of improving the living conditions of its citizens,” Kalu said.
He added that the nation needed economic expansion to bring money, prosperity, and goodness to Nigerians. Kalu also commended President Bola Tinubu for efforts to expand the economy. He observed that the macroeconomy performed well but the microeconomy still struggled.
“Things might look difficult today. Yes, as you can see, I am an industrialist. The macroeconomy is doing well, but the microeconomy is not doing well. I told the President this,” Kalu stated.
Kalu expressed optimism that proper security investment would allow economic gains to reach all Nigerians. He then reaffirmed his commitment to the country unity.
“Nigeria is one, and I will continue to pray and plead for the unity of this country until I die,” Kalu declared.
The senator thanked Governor Ahmed Aliyu for the invitation and hospitality during the visit. This development came as part of ongoing discussions on national development and cohesion in Nigeria.
