13,000 Terrorists Eliminated as Terror Deaths Drop by 81% Since 2015, Says Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu announced significant progress in Nigeria’s fight against terrorism. He cited official figures that showed terror-related deaths fell sharply and many militants faced neutralization during intensified military campaigns.

Terror-related deaths dropped by 81 percent since 2015. The Presidency made this claim in a recent statement. Officials attributed the reduction to sustained counter insurgency operations and improved coordination among security agencies and local communities.

Security forces neutralized more than 13,000 terrorists in the past year. President Tinubu shared this update during engagements with security chiefs. He also noted that over 124,000 fighters and their dependents surrendered to authorities. These developments followed targeted operations in areas such as Borno State.

More than 2.1 million displaced persons returned to their homes. Government reconstruction programs supported this reintegration process. Officials launched a resettlement scheme to rebuild livelihoods in affected communities.

President Tinubu described the fight against terror as a national duty. He urged Nigerians to support security forces. He issued ultimatums to remaining terrorists, bandits, and kidnappers to surrender or face full military action. Operations continued to degrade key militant command centers, including one belonging to ISWAP in Arege, Borno State.

These figures reflected the government’s resolve to restore peace. President Tinubu reaffirmed commitment to safeguarding lives through collaborative security strategies.
