Galatasaray defeated Lille 4-2 in a UEFA Champions League league-phase match on Wednesday night.
Yunus Akgün scored for Galatasaray in the second minute at Stade Pierre-Mauroy. Lille responded quickly when Soriba Diaoune equalised in the seventh minute. Diaoune then put the home side ahead with his second goal in the 39th minute. Aleksey Batrakov headed Galatasaray level just before half-time in the 44th minute after a cross from Roland Sallai.
An own goal early in the second half gave Galatasaray the lead. Victor Osimhen then scored in the 61st minute. He combined with Barış Alper Yılmaz on a counter-attack and finished from the edge of the area. Osimhen, who previously played for Lille, did not celebrate the goal. He later received applause from the home supporters when he left the pitch.
Both teams entered the match without points after two defeats each. Galatasaray claimed their first victory and three points in the competition. Lille remained on zero points after three matches. Okan Buruk managed Galatasaray while Davide Ancelotti was in charge of Lille.
The result lifted Galatasaray in the league-phase table. Lille continued their search for a first point.
