Troops from Operation HADIN KAI joined local hunters to destroy Boko Haram hideouts in Borno State. The operation followed an attack on Miringa community in Biu Local Government Area.
Boko Haram fighters struck Miringa community recently. Security sources reported the assault forced residents to flee. In response, troops of the 135 Special Forces Battalion launched a clearance mission early on July 10. Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency analyst who covers the Lake Chad region, disclosed the details in his report.
Makama stated that the troops operated in four combat teams. They worked alongside 25 local hunters from Buratai and Kurnari communities. The force used an EQ-series tactical vehicle, three gun trucks and 15 motorcycles for mobility.
The combined team moved into the Mangari, Bulazarma and Dora axis. These locations served as movement corridors and temporary staging grounds for the fleeing terrorists after the Miringa attack.
Troops conducted cordon-and-search operations across the areas. They aimed to track insurgents and recover hidden arms and ammunition.
Although the force made no direct contact with terrorists, soldiers identified several makeshift shelters. They destroyed the structures, which served as temporary hideouts and assembly points for Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province fighters.
Local hunters provided crucial intelligence during the mission. Their knowledge of the terrain helped troops navigate difficult areas effectively. The successful destruction of hideouts disrupted terrorist logistics in the region.
Security analysts noted that such joint operations weaken insurgent networks. Residents in Biu expressed relief after the clearance. The swift action prevented further immediate threats in surrounding communities.
Troops continued patrols in the area to maintain security. Officials urged civilians to report suspicious activities to support ongoing efforts against the insurgency.
