Tinubu Gives Approval for 1,000 New Forest Guards in Katsina

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu approved the recruitment of 1,000 forest guards for Katsina State. The move strengthened security operations against banditry in the northwest state.

Katsina State Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda announced the approval on Tuesday. He appreciated President Tinubu for granting the state’s request. Governor Radda stated that the new guards would support conventional security agencies and community watch groups.

Governor Radda explained that authorities would select young and able-bodied men and women for the positions. Officials planned to equip the recruits properly. The forest guards would focus on safeguarding communities in remote and forested regions.

Transitioning to broader efforts, Governor Radda engaged Islamic clerics and stakeholders on community-driven solutions. He stressed the need for collective action beyond security agencies alone.

Governor Radda highlighted recent executive actions that included restrictions on fuel sales in jerrycans, motorcycle use in certain areas, and Point of Sale operations. These steps aimed to disrupt criminal supply lines and logistics.

He commended the federal government for increased deployment of military, police, and Department of State Services personnel to the state. Governor Radda called on citizens to remain vigilant and cooperate with authorities. “Security is a collective responsibility,” he added.
