Anambra State Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo stated that President Bola Tinubu intentionally drove the reconstruction of the South-East region. Soludo made the remarks on Thursday through a post on his X handle. He pointed to recent federal approvals for major road projects as clear evidence of this commitment.
Soludo expressed strong excitement over the developments. “I can’t contain my joy and that of my people regarding the great news from DIKESIMBA Anambra; DIKESIMBA NDIGBO, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” he said. He added that Tinubu continued to demonstrate his commitment to orchestrating the reconstruction of the South-East, thereby finally healing the wounds of the Civil War.
The Federal Government approved the design and procurement of two key roads. These included the 108-kilometre Otuocha–Anam–Abaji Road, which links Anambra to Kogi State. The second project covered the 150-kilometre Oba–Nnewi–Uga–Ihube Road that connects Anambra and Imo to the Enugu–Port Harcourt Expressway.
Soludo described the roads as critical game-changers. “These two roads constitute critical game-changers for the South-East, South-South and North-Central. The man who tamed the Atlantic Ocean in Lagos is certainly redefining politics, and the South-East won’t be the same again,” he stated. He noted that the projects would address decades-long infrastructural deficits in the region.
Soludo met President Tinubu on July 1. The next day, Minister of Works Senator Dave Umahi contacted him for details of the roads they had discussed. Soludo submitted the proposals on July 3. He received confirmation of presidential approval on July 15.
The governor credited constructive engagement for the outcomes. “For me personally, this is why politics makes sense to me: working collaboratively and building alliances to achieve concrete results that improve the lives of the people,” he said. He concluded by thanking Tinubu. “Thank you, Asiwaju! History will be kind to you.”
