Tinubu Approves N111bn for 700km Northern Superhighway Project

President Bola Tinubu approved N111 billion for the construction of a 700-kilometre northern superhighway. He flagged off the project on Wednesday as part of his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

The superhighway stretches from Akwanga in Nasarawa State through Jos, Bauchi, Gombe, and Biu to Maiduguri in Borno State. Engineers designed it to improve connectivity and boost economic activities across northern Nigeria.

Minister of Works Dave Umahi announced the funding release before President Tinubu addressed the gathering. Umahi stated that President Tinubu approved the immediate release of N111 billion to the contractor. He added that the CGOC-CGC Joint Venture would mobilise to the site within one week.

President Bola Tinubu described the project as a key legacy initiative. He highlighted its role in enhancing transportation links and supporting regional development. Transitioning to broader efforts, the administration also approved multiple road projects nationwide.

This approval forms part of larger investments that total billions of naira for roads across several states. Officials expect the superhighway to reduce travel time and stimulate trade in the region. Contractors will begin physical work soon after mobilisation.
