The Nigeria Police Force invited social media personality Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, and summoned Assistant Inspector-General of Police Moshood Jimoh on Tuesday over corruption allegations.
Force Public Relations Officer CSP Ani Iniedu issued a statement confirming the actions. Meanwhile, the Force stated that the related criminal matter remains before a court of competent jurisdiction after advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions.
Separately, the Assistant Inspector-General in charge of the Force Criminal Investigation Department invited AIG Moshood Jimoh, who heads Zone 2 Command, for questioning. The invitation formed part of an internal administrative review linked to the claims.
In addition, the Force Criminal Investigation Department in Abuja formally issued a letter of invitation to Martins Otse on 30 July 2026. Officials asked him to appear at the Abuja office to substantiate the claims he made in the public domain.
For several weeks, Martins Otse accused AIG Moshood Jimoh of corruption in a series of social media videos. He alleged that police under the officer’s supervision, when Moshood Jimoh served as Commissioner of Police in Lagos, framed businessman Ahmed Tajudeen Akanbi.
The claims connected to the killings of Sheriff Ishola Salami in April 2023 and Prince Ademola Akinloye in August 2024 in the Ajiran area of Eti-Osa, Lagos. Otse further claimed that two suspects gave initial confessions without naming Akanbi.
The Force noted the public statements by Martins Otse concerning AIG Moshood Jimoh and the ongoing criminal matter. Officials stressed that the case will not be tried in the media.
CSP Ani Iniedu’s statement added that these steps reflect the Force’s commitment to investigate credible allegations of misconduct through established channels, regardless of rank or public profile.
The Nigeria Police Force urged Martins Otse to honour the invitation and engage with the administrative review in good faith while allowing the judicial process to continue.
