Paris Saint-Germain produced a statement victory on Tuesday night, defeating previously unbeaten FC Barcelona 4-2 in a six-goal UEFA Champions League thriller at the Parc des Princes.
The two-time defending European champions remained perfect in the 2026/27 league phase with three wins from three matches. Goals from Désiré Doué, Lucas Hernandez, Vitinha and Fabián Ruiz sealed the result against Hansi Flick’s high-flying Barcelona side, which suffered its first defeat of the season after an 11-game winning streak across all competitions.
Doué opened the scoring in the 38th minute, curling home a precise finish after capitalising on a defensive error. Barcelona equalised early in the second half through Xavi Espart (55’), a promising La Masia graduate making an impact on his full Champions League start. Lucas Hernandez restored PSG’s lead with a powerful header in the 72nd minute.

Lamine Yamal, one of the standout talents in world football, levelled the score again in the 79th minute with a brilliant solo effort. However, PSG responded immediately. Vitinha struck a superb long-range effort in the 81st minute to put the hosts back in front, before Fabián Ruiz tapped home from close range in the 86th minute to complete the scoring.
The match was an open, high-tempo contest featuring numerous chances and approximately 40 attempts on goal. Luis Enrique’s side showed clinical edge and resilience, particularly in the closing stages when Barcelona pushed forward in search of another equaliser.
The result leaves Paris Saint-Germain top of the Champions League standings with nine points and a strong goal difference. Barcelona drop places after their first points dropped of the campaign.
