Osimhen Steps Up Recovery, Returns to Partial Galatasaray Training

Victor Osimhen, Super Eagles striker, stepped up his recovery from injury after he returned to partial team training with Galatasaray. The Nigerian forward prepared for Friday’s Turkish Süper Lig clash against Kasımpaşa.

Osimhen joined his teammates for the opening stages of the session at the Kemerburgaz Metin Oktay Facilities. He worked under head coach Okan Buruk.

Osimhen sustained a right adductor injury during Galatasaray’s 3-2 victory over İstanbul Başakşehir on September 4. He left the pitch in the 33rd minute after scoring.

Medical examinations confirmed a moderate to advanced strain with bleeding in the right adductor muscle group. As a result, he missed several matches. These included Galatasaray’s Champions League opener against Sporting CP and Süper Lig games against Kocaelispor and Trabzonspor.

He also withdrew from Nigeria’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau. Taiwo Awoniyi replaced him in the Super Eagles squad.

Osimhen took part in the dynamic warm-up and early passing drills. Afterwards, he continued with an individual programme prepared by the club’s medical staff.

Galatasaray posted images of the session on its official account. Midfielder Mario Lemina completed the full workout with the team. Meanwhile, defenders Wilfried Singo and Roland Sallai trained separately as they recovered from their own injuries.

The club remained cautious with Osimhen’s workload. Reports indicated that Buruk could introduce him for about 30 minutes against Kasımpaşa at Rams Park on October 9. Galatasaray will then face Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League four days later.

Osimhen, aged 27, had scored six goals and provided two assists in four appearances before the injury.
