NNPC Launched N66 Petrol Discount Across Nigeria to Mark Independence

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited announced a nationwide petrol discount of N66 per litre on 1 October 2026. The company tied the offer to Nigeria’s 66th Independence anniversary.

NNPC Retail stations offered the discount on every litre of Premium Motor Spirit from 1 October to 7 October 2026. Customers needed to pay through the NNPC Fuel App at participating stations to receive the reduction. Terms and conditions applied.

NNPC Limited stated in its official message: “Happy 66th Independence Day, Nigeria. N66 off every litre of PMS at NNPC Retail today till 7 October. Pay with the app at any participating station. T&Cs apply.”

The company further directed customers to download the NNPC Fuel App by scanning a promotional QR code or visiting the provided link to qualify.

Motorists first downloaded the NNPC Fuel App. They then completed payments through the app at any participating NNPC Retail outlet. This step activated the N66 discount on each litre purchased during the seven-day period.

In a separate post, NNPC Retail confirmed: “In celebration of Nigeria’s Independence, we are giving out N66/litre on every PMS purchase across NNPC Retail stations via the NNPC Fuel App. Download the NNPC Fuel App via this link to qualify for the discount.”

On 30 September 2026, NNPC filling stations in Abuja and surrounding areas lowered their pump price from N1,395 to N1,370 per litre. This marked a N25 reduction. In Lagos, the company cut its price from N1,375 to N1,360 per litre.

These changes followed a cut by Dangote Petroleum Refinery, which reduced its gantry price to N1,325 per litre. MRS filling stations in Abuja also adjusted their pump price to N1,370 per litre around the same time.

NNPC Limited added in its Independence Day message: “As we celebrate Nigeria’s 66th Independence Day, we honour the resilience, strength and diversity that define our great nation.” The company said it remained committed to creating value and powering progress for Nigeria.
