LIVERPOOL RELEASE EMOTIONAL DIOGO JOTA BIOGRAPHY AS CLUB PREPARES TO KEEP HIS LEGACY ALIVE

Liverpool FC have released a new biography celebrating the life, career and lasting legacy of Diogo Jota, giving supporters a deeply personal account of the Portuguese forward whose death left the football world in mourning.

Titled Forever in Our Hearts, the book traces Jota’s journey from his early years in Portugal to becoming a Premier League champion and one of Liverpool’s most cherished players. Published by Reach Sport and written by Portuguese author and former professional footballer José Delgado, the biography draws on interviews with family members, friends, teammates and coaches who knew the forward personally.

Among those contributing to the book are Jota’s wife, Rute, his parents, Isabel and Joaquim, and former Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp. More than 90 people who knew the footballer also shared their memories, offering readers insight into the man behind the goals, trophies and famous No. 20 shirt.

Delgado said his intention was to preserve Jota’s memory while treating his life and the grief surrounding his death with care.

“This book began as an opportunity to help preserve Diogo’s memory at a moment of profound sadness,” the author said. He explained that those closest to Jota generously shared their experiences to help future generations understand his character and the love surrounding both Diogo and his brother, André Silva.

Jota and André died in a road accident in Spain on July 3, 2025. The tragedy occurred shortly after Jota had celebrated winning the Premier League with Liverpool and the UEFA Nations League with Portugal. He was 28.

His death prompted an extraordinary outpouring of tributes from supporters, teammates and football organisations across the world.

Jota joined Liverpool from Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2020 and scored 65 goals in 182 appearances for the club. His contribution included crucial goals during Liverpool’s domestic cup successes and their 2024-25 Premier League title-winning campaign.

Liverpool subsequently retired the No. 20 shirt across its teams in honour of the forward, marking an unprecedented tribute in the club’s history.

The new biography will also support a grassroots football programme established in Jota’s name. According to the club’s announcement, all Liverpool FC profits from book sales will go towards the initiative through the LFC Foundation.

The release adds another chapter to Liverpool’s efforts to preserve Jota’s memory while creating opportunities for young footballers. For supporters who continue to remember the forward, Forever in Our Hearts offers a chance to revisit his remarkable journey and the personal connections that made him more than just a footballer.
