North Korean leader Kim Jong Un hosted Chinese President Xi Jinping for a two-day summit in Pyongyang. The meeting took place on Monday as Xi made his first visit to North Korea in seven years. Both sides used the occasion to reinforce their alliance.
Kim Jong Un welcomed Xi Jinping with a grand ceremony at Pyongyang International Airport. The two leaders held talks at the Kumsusan State Guesthouse. They agreed to expand cooperation across multiple sectors and develop bilateral relations into a new chapter.
Xi Jinping expressed China’s willingness to broaden practical cooperation. He highlighted areas such as trade, agriculture, construction, science and technology, and medical care. “China is ready to expand practical cooperation,” Xi stated through official channels.
Kim Jong Un told Xi Jinping that North Korea would promote relations with China more vigorously. He reaffirmed full support for the One China principle. Kim described the consolidation of friendship as the “unchanging strategic choice” of his country.
Xi Jinping called for stronger strategic coordination. He urged both nations to safeguard their sovereignty, security, and development interests. The leaders also agreed to deepen high-level exchanges and strategic communication.
The summit covered political, economic, and cultural ties. Officials noted resumed trade flows and transport links between the two countries. Both leaders inspected honor guards and attended related events during the visit.
Kim Jong Un and Xi Jinping expressed confidence that the agreements would advance their shared goals. The meeting concluded with commitments to further collaboration in the coming period.
