The Federal Government confirmed on Friday that all federal unity colleges nationwide would resume academic activities on Monday, September 14, 2026. Folasade Boriowo, the Director of Press and Public Relations at the Federal Ministry of Education, issued the statement.
Dr Maruf Tunji Alausa, the Minister of Education, stated that officials had made arrangements to ensure the safe return of students and staff as the new academic session began. He added that relevant security agencies had received notification of the resumption plans.
Alausa explained that the agencies would maintain heightened vigilance around the colleges and their immediate environments. He said the coordinated efforts aimed to safeguard students, staff and school communities as academic activities resumed across the country.
“The safety and wellbeing of students and staff remain central to the Federal Government’s commitment to providing a secure and conducive environment for teaching and learning,” Alausa said.
The minister urged parents and guardians to remain calm. He advised them to rely on official information and prepare their children to return to their respective colleges on Monday.
Alausa also directed school authorities to work closely with security agencies and other relevant authorities. He said this step would ensure an orderly resumption. Furthermore, he called on students, parents, teachers and school administrators to help maintain a peaceful and secure environment in the colleges.
The ministry stated that it would continue to monitor developments and take all necessary measures in collaboration with relevant authorities to support the smooth and safe start of the academic session.
