Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has presented a proposed budget of N1.854 trillion for the 2026 fiscal year to the Rivers State House of Assembly led by Speaker Martins Amaewhule.
The appropriation bill, christened the “Budget of Resilience for Growth and Development,” was formally laid before lawmakers on Friday, marking another key step in the state’s budgetary process.
Governor Fubara said the proposed budget is designed to accelerate economic growth, strengthen critical infrastructure, improve public service delivery, and promote sustainable development across Rivers State. He noted that the spending plan reflects the administration’s commitment to building a resilient economy capable of meeting the needs of residents despite prevailing economic challenges.
The presentation also signals continued engagement between the executive and the legislature on matters relating to governance and fiscal planning in the state.
Lawmakers are expected to commence deliberations on the appropriation bill in the coming days before its eventual passage and transmission to the governor for assent.
The proposed budget outlines the government’s development priorities for the 2026 fiscal year, with allocations expected to support key sectors including infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture, security, and economic development.
The Rivers State House of Assembly will now subject the budget estimates to legislative scrutiny as part of the constitutional appropriation process.
