Fresh Tensions as Trump Unimpressed with Iran’s New Peace Plan

President Donald Trump expressed dissatisfaction with Iran’s new peace proposal. The offer aimed to end the two-month conflict but fell short of US demands on the nuclear issue.

Iran delivered the proposal through Pakistani mediators in recent days. The plan called for immediate reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and lifting of the US naval blockade. It suggested postponing talks on Iran’s nuclear program to a later stage.

President Donald Trump reviewed the proposal with top national security officials during a White House Situation Room meeting. He made clear that the offer did not meet core American requirements. A US official briefed on the meeting stated that Trump was unlikely to accept any deal that delayed nuclear discussions.

The proposal emerged as efforts to revive ceasefire talks stalled. President Donald Trump earlier canceled a planned trip by US envoys to Pakistan. He announced that special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner would not travel for direct negotiations. Trump added that talks could continue by phone for now. He stressed that Iran must abandon its nuclear ambitions for any agreement to proceed.

Iran’s foreign minister Abbas Araghchi visited Pakistan around the same time. He held discussions with Pakistani officials. However, no formal US-Iran meeting took place.

The conflict disrupted global energy supplies and raised inflation concerns.

It also led to significant casualties on both sides. President Donald Trump maintained that the United States held strong leverage in the standoff. He insisted that Iran must address the nuclear program upfront.

White House officials reiterated that America’s red lines remained unchanged. They confirmed that Washington would not negotiate sensitive details through the media. Trump told reporters the Iranian offer represented a step but was not sufficient.

Negotiations continued at a distance. Both sides signaled willingness to talk while holding firm on their positions. The latest development highlighted deep gaps that still separated the two countries.
