EPL: Chelsea Dominate 10-Man Manchester United in Convincing 2-0 Victory

Chelsea defeated Manchester United 2-0 in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge on Saturday. Morgan Rogers and Cole Palmer scored the goals after the break. The result left United with 10 men following a red card.

Both sides created opportunities before the interval. Manchester United saw a Matheus Cunha effort ruled out for offside. Chelsea also had a goal disallowed. The teams remained level at 0-0 when the half ended.

Chelsea started the second half with greater intent. Romeo Lavia won the ball in midfield. He then found Morgan Rogers. The forward drove forward, beat defenders and dinked the ball over goalkeeper Senne Lammens. Rogers scored in the 50th minute to give Chelsea the lead.

United struggled to respond. Shortly after the hour mark, Lisandro Martinez committed a foul on Wesley Fofana inside the box during a corner. Referee Peter Bankes reviewed the incident with VAR. Martinez received a second yellow card and left the pitch. Cole Palmer stepped up and scored from the penalty spot in the 64th minute. The goal made it 2-0.

With a numerical advantage, Chelsea managed the game. An Estêvão finish was later ruled out for offside. Manchester United failed to mount a serious recovery. The final whistle confirmed the 2-0 scoreline.

Xabi Alonso’s side collected three points and moved higher in the table. Michael Carrick’s Manchester United extended their difficult run. United sit near the bottom of the standings after the defeat.
