Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation Boss Mustapha chaired the Central Planning Committee. Mustapha announced details at a press conference. He stated that the remembrance included prayers and reflections on Buhari’s service.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu attended as the special guest of honour. Tinubu presented a commemorative book titled “Tributes and Condolences in Honour of Muhammadu Buhari” to the public. The event took place at the Nigerian Army Conference Centre in Asokoro at 12 noon.
Close associates delivered speeches on Buhari’s historical legacy. They highlighted his roles as military head of state from 1983 to 1985 and elected president from 2015 to 2023.
Transitioning to personal reflections, former aide Bashir Ahmad described Buhari as a father figure and mentor. Ahmad praised his humility, anti-corruption drive, infrastructure projects like rail lines, and support programs for farmers and vulnerable groups.
Supporters from northern Nigeria viewed Buhari as a symbol of selfless leadership. They offered prayers for the peaceful repose of his soul during the ceremony.
