Dangote Group Refutes Viral Claim Linking Tinubu Government to Cement Profits

The Dangote Group debunked a viral claim that alleged the administration of President Bola Ahmed TinubuBola Ahmed Tinubu earned revenue from every bag of cement sold in Nigeria. The company acted swiftly on April 15 2026 to correct the false information.

A Facebook post circulated widely and attributed a statement to Aliko Dangote chairman of the Dangote Group. The post claimed Tinubu’s government takes 52 kobo from every naira on cement. It added that this equals 6 240 naira from every bag of cement. The post further questioned why the government continued to borrow money despite the alleged earnings.

Social media users shared the claim across platforms. Many reacted to the figures and linked them to high cement prices and economic policies.

However the Dangote Group responded on its official X account. The company shared a screenshot of the viral post. It stamped the image with the word Fake. The post carried no further text.

Moreover the Dangote Group clarified that the quote did not originate from Aliko Dangote. The company distanced its chairman from the statement and described the claim as false and misattributed.

The rebuttal came amid ongoing public debate about cement prices and taxation. The Dangote Group offered no additional details beyond the Fake label. Officials noted that such claims often involve prominent business figures and sensitive economic issues.

The swift action by the Dangote Group aimed to stop the spread of the unverified post. Authorities and media outlets continue to monitor similar cases of misinformation on social media.
