Buhari’s Son Announces Bid for House of Reps Under APC

Yusuf Buhari, son of former President Muhammadu Buhari, declared his intention to contest the Daura/Sandamu/Mai’adua Federal Constituency seat on Thursday. The younger Buhari made the announcement in Daura while addressing party stakeholders and supporters. He will run for the House of Representatives seat on the All Progressives Congress platform.

The aspirant first visited Governor Dikko Radda in Katsina on Wednesday to seek support. He then addressed supporters directly. “I am here to seek your support, and I assure you that if elected, I will do my best and will never disappoint you,” the House of Representatives hopeful declared. “I thank all of you for your time, dedication and support,” he added.

The district head subsequently spoke at the gathering. Alhaji Musa Haro, the Dan Madamin Daura and District Head of Dumurkol, solicited support for the candidate. “We are here to ask for your support for our brother,” the traditional ruler said. “We will go to the people in every town and village to seek their support,” he added.

Haro also mentioned the incumbent representative. “Even the current member, Hon. Aminu Jamo, did his best. We know how politics is — nobody can do 100 per cent,” the district head noted.

The governor finally responded to the declaration. Governor Dikko Radda, the Katsina state chief executive, applauded Yusuf Buhari’s interest in serving his community. Radda highlighted his administration’s commitment to internal democracy, fairness, and unity within the APC.

The governor urged the aspirant to remain steadfast, consult widely, and maintain integrity throughout the political process. He also called on party stakeholders to prioritise peace and cohesion ahead of the 2027 general election.
