A brief but tense incident occurred at the Nnamdi Azikiwe foreign Airport on Thursday, July 24, 2025, when immigration agents momentarily confiscated Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s foreign passport, according to an article published by The Sun Nigeria…
Witnesses at the event said the Kogi Central Senator maintained her composure and insisted that the seizure had no legal justification.
“This was never approved by the court. My passport is not yours to keep,” she declared. The event happened early in the morning on Thursday when Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan and her husband, Chief Emmanuel Uduaghan, arrived at the international terminal of Abuja ‘s Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport where travellers and airport employees were drawn to the altercation after immigration officers detained her passport without providing a valid justification.
Sources at the airport said that the Comptroller General of Immigration issued the order to hold the Senator’s travel document, purportedly following the Senate President’s directives. During the wait, Chief Uduaghan was seen making several frantic phone calls. The Senator was able to clear immigration before boarding her flight for departure after her passport was returned without explanation after the few minutes of confusion.
