2027: Fubara Credits Tinubu for Fatherly Intervention in Rivers Crisis

Siminalayi Fubara, Rivers State governor, publicly thanked President Bola Tinubu on Saturday for intervening in the state’s prolonged political crisis. Fubara spoke during the All Progressives Congress presidential campaign rally in Port Harcourt.

He addressed the president directly and described the visit as more than a formal appearance. “Your visit is not just a visit to us; it is an affirmation of the bond between Rivers state and the federal government, as well as your personal love and commitment to Rivers state and this region,” Fubara said.

The governor recalled the intense uncertainty that had gripped the state. He stated that Tinubu stepped in when the situation demanded leadership. “When our state was at a crossroads, you intervened as a father and as a true statesman amidst intense political uncertainty,” Fubara said.

He added that the president refused to ignore the turmoil. “You did not look away; you reached out with a fatherly hand, called for peace and harmony, intervened directly and made personal sacrifices so our administration could remain standing and continue to deliver the dividends of democracy to the good people of Rivers state.”

Fubara then offered formal thanks on behalf of the government and residents. “Let me, on behalf of the government and people of Rivers state, say thank you. Thank you for standing with us during the most difficult moments. Thank you for your love and support for Rivers state,” he said.

He linked the intervention to future political support. “Mr president, we all know that a good gesture calls for reciprocity. As you have stood for us, we will stand for you. As you have supported Rivers state, Rivers state will support you equally.”

Fubara also pledged that Rivers would deliver three million votes for Tinubu in the 2027 election. Meanwhile, Tinubu later thanked the governor for showing maturity and respect for elders during the reconciliation process. The president assured Fubara that he would not regret the decisions taken.
