Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso declared on Sunday that the Nigeria Democratic Congress would not withdraw its presidential ticket for the African Democratic Congress or any other party ahead of the 2027 general election.
Kwankwaso, the NDC vice-presidential candidate, made the statement in a post on his verified social media page. He expressed concern over the conduct of the ADC Presidential Campaign Council.
He said the attacks directed at him, NDC presidential candidate Peter Obi and the party were unnecessary. Furthermore, he accused the ADC team of focusing on the NDC instead of presenting its own candidate’s credentials.
Kwankwaso stated clearly that the NDC ticket would stay in the race. “Let me state clearly and unequivocally: we will not withdraw our candidature for the ADC or any other party. We remain confident in our capacity, competence, and readiness to lead Nigeria,” he said.
He also warned that the ADC campaign might try to mislead NDC supporters on the eve of the election by claiming a last-minute withdrawal. Meanwhile, he dismissed suggestions that the NDC worked for the ruling All Progressives Congress.
Kwankwaso referred to the Obi-Kwankwaso pairing as the OK ticket. He insisted it acted independently. “The OK ticket is neither working for nor acting on behalf of the APC or any of its candidates,” he said.
In addition, he argued that the APC-led government had failed Nigerians and that the ADC offered no better alternative. He added that the NDC ticket presented a credible option backed by a strong track record and support across Northern and Southern Nigeria.
