First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu announced the consolidation of various women support groups into a single structure under the All Progressives Congress on Monday. She inaugurated the APC Presidential Women Campaign Council at the same event.
The First Lady spoke at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja. The gathering formed part of the Women Stakeholders’ Mobilisation and Empowerment Pre-inauguration Campaign Roll-out for 2027.
Senator Oluremi Tinubu stated that the decision aimed to create a unified women’s campaign structure for the party. She listed groups such as Tinubu Again, Torch Bearers and the Tinubu Support Group among those merged.
“We have collapsed every other women support group into one – from Tinubu Again, Torch Bearers, etc. What you will see on the ballot box is APC. We’re here to promote APC, nothing less,” she said.
Furthermore, she added that the council would mobilise women for APC candidates at all levels. “From Presidency, governorship, National Assembly and State Assembly, that is what we are here for,” she stated.
The First Lady said the new council would organise six zonal mega rallies, state rallies and a grand finale in Abuja. She noted that she and the wife of the Vice President, Hajia Nana Shettima, would take part in the zonal campaigns.
In addition, she explained that the wife of the Senate President, the wife of the Speaker of the House of Representatives and the Chairperson of the Nigeria Governors’ Spouses Forum would represent her at state-level campaigns.
Senator Oluremi Tinubu urged women across the country to vote for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima. She also called for support for APC candidates in other elections.
The wife of the Vice President, Hajia Nana Shettima, joined the First Lady in the appeal. Director General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council Senator Abdulaziz Yari described women as a significant voting bloc for the 2027 elections.
