Desmond Elliot Seeks Gbajabiamila’s Forgiveness, Wants Back in APC

Desmond Elliot, a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, on Sunday apologised to Femi Gbajabiamila. He sought forgiveness and a return to the All Progressives Congress fold in Lagos.

Elliot appeared in a video that circulated on social media. He knelt before Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, and prostrated.

“I’m sorry, I have no excuse, I have nothing other than to say I’m deeply sorry and I am hoping to be cultured in the future,” Elliot said. He added in Yoruba, “Ema binu baba.”

Gbajabiamila asked the lawmaker to stand up after the gesture. The apology followed a disagreement that arose during the APC primary for Surulere Constituency I in May.

Elliot had withdrawn from the primary. He alleged intimidation and political pressure against his supporters. He later rejected the outcome and indicated plans to challenge it through the party’s appeal process.

Meanwhile, Barakat Odunuga-Bakare won the ticket with 11,385 votes. Elliot polled 270 votes. Odunuga-Bakare was widely believed to enjoy Gbajabiamila’s support.

Elliot later expressed gratitude for Gbajabiamila’s past mentorship. He stated that no temporary disagreement should damage a relationship built on years of trust and shared commitment to the party.

The latest move marked an effort by the Surulere representative to mend ties with the APC leadership in Lagos after months of tension.
