Erling Haaland scored the only goal as Manchester City defeated Coventry City 1-0 at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday. Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur drew 0-0 with Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.
New Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca watched his side maintain a perfect Premier League start. In the 26th minute, Enzo Fernandez passed the ball to Antoine Semenyo. Semenyo then crossed for Erling Haaland, who headed home his third goal of the season.
City created further chances but failed to add to their lead. Coventry, managed by Frank Lampard, pressed hard and missed several opportunities. As a result, City remained top of the table with nine points from three matches.
Tottenham, under manager Roberto De Zerbi, earned their first point of the season. The visitors failed to register a shot on target throughout the match. Consequently, they remained without a Premier League goal after three games.
Nottingham Forest thought they had taken the lead when Neco Williams bundled the ball over the line. However, VAR reviewed the incident and ruled it out for handball. Referee Craig Pawson then awarded a free kick to Tottenham.
Both teams finished with 12 shots each. Spurs now sit near the bottom of the table with one point, while Forest hold two points from three matches.
