Omoyele Sowore, the African Action Congress presidential candidate, stated that his administration would appoint Artificial Intelligence as Minister of Finance and a drone as Minister of Defence if elected in 2027.
Sowore made the declaration in posts shared on his verified X handle on Friday. He presented the idea as part of a broader plan to shift governance away from political patronage.
“Sowore2027 will appoint Artificial Intelligence as ‘Minister of Finance’ and a ‘Drone’ as Minister of Defence,” he declared.
Furthermore, Sowore explained the expected roles of the proposed systems. “The AI will eliminate human manipulation, waste, and corruption in public finance by making data-driven, transparent decisions,” he added.
On national security, Sowore said the drone would transform defence operations. “The Drone will redefine national security with modern surveillance, rapid response, precision, and accountability,” he stated.
In addition, he concluded that the future of governance rested on technology rather than patronage.
Sowore shared the statements as part of his 2027 campaign messaging. He positioned the technology driven approach as a means to improve efficiency, transparency and accountability in public administration.
Meanwhile the candidate had previously spoken about using drones for security operations in earlier interviews. The latest posts combined the Artificial Intelligence proposal for finance with the earlier drone concept for defence.
