Igboho Says FG’s Green Light Is Needed to Flush Out Criminals from South-West Forests

Yoruba nation activist Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, urged the Federal Government and Southwest governors to approve a security network. He made the call on Tuesday following recent kidnappings in Oyo State.

Igboho said he had completed all necessary procedures for the Iru Ekun Security Network. The network aimed to flush bandits, rogue herders, and kidnappers from forests across Yorubaland.

Igboho reacted to the abduction of pupils and the killing of teacher Michael Oyedokun. He commiserated with the families of the victims and parents of the abducted pupils.

“I’m only awaiting the approval of the government to tackle growing insecurity ravaging the South-West headlong,” Igboho stated in a release.

He stressed that he did not want to launch operations without official support. “I don’t want to start our strategic and effectively mapped out onslaught against these criminals without the official approval from the Federal Government, South West governors and relevant security stakeholders,” he added.

Igboho declared that he and his supporters stood ready to enter the forests. They planned to dislodge criminal elements that had turned the areas into hideouts for attacks on rural communities.

He had earlier sought the removal of his name from the wanted list. Igboho emphasized his willingness to collaborate with security agencies once granted approval.

Southwest residents continued to face threats from bandits who operated from dense forests. Igboho’s proposed network represented one effort to restore peace in the region. However the Federal Government had yet to respond to his request as of the time of this report.
