Special adviser to the President on policy communication Daniel Bwala dismissed claims by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar that a coalition candidate would defeat President Bola Ahmed TinubuBola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027. Daniel Bwala made the rebuttal on social media platform X on April 15 2026. He recalled Atiku Abubakar’s past electoral loss.
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar announced his willingness to step aside for any consensus candidate in the opposition coalition building around the African Democratic Congress. He spoke during a recent interview. Atiku Abubakar added that he would yield even to former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi if the coalition chose him.
He insisted the move would strengthen the opposition. Atiku Abubakar further claimed that any coalition backed candidate would render President Bola Ahmed Tinubu dead on arrival in the next election.
Daniel Bwala however fired back at his former boss. He quoted Atiku Abubakar directly and responded with a pointed reminder of the 2023 presidential race. Daniel Bwala wrote “My former boss @atiku said with a coalition candidate President Tinubu @officialABAT is dead on arrival. Lol. But we know you are the coalition candidate.”
He continued “YET no vex sir he defeated you in 2023 when you had governors states and structures.” Daniel Bwala noted that those same governors states and structures now backed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Daniel Bwala argued that the current opposition effort relied on aggrieved stateless leaders. He stated “With a coalition of aggrieved STATELESS leaders I doubt if President Tinubu would bother to check the scoreboard on the day.”
The exchange highlighted ongoing tensions between the ruling party and the opposition ahead of 2027. Daniel Bwala who once served as Atiku Abubakar’s spokesperson ended the post without further elaboration.
