Senator Ovie Omo-Agege stated that he would not remain inactive in a party where he could not advance the interests of Delta Central, Delta State, and Nigeria. He added that his political objectives and those of his constituents would receive better service outside the APC.
Senator Ede Dafinone defeated Senator Ovie Omo-Agege in the APC Delta Central senatorial primary on May 18, 2026. Official results showed Senator Ede Dafinone polled 116,252 votes while Senator Ovie Omo-Agege scored 3,643 votes. Senator Ovie Omo-Agege rejected the outcome at first. He later announced his full exit from the party.
