Wike’s PDP Team Unveils New Leaders, Says “We’re Set for 2027”

The faction of the Peoples Democratic Party backed by Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike held its national convention on March 29 2026. More than 2500 delegates gathered at the Velodrome of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja. They affirmed new leaders through consensus.

Delegates elected Abdulrahman Mohammed as National Chairman. They also elected Senator Samuel Anyanwu as National Secretary. The convention confirmed 19 other members of the National Working Committee. Minister Nyesom Wike led the process and described the gathering as a step toward party unity.

National Chairman Abdulrahman Mohammed addressed the delegates directly. He said the convention marked a defining moment that reaffirmed democratic ideals and respect for due process. Mohammed added that the party chose inclusiveness over exclusion and renewal over decline. He called on members to embrace unity as the party prepared for future contests.

Meanwhile Minister Nyesom Wike spoke as the national leader of the faction. Wike stated that healing had begun in the party. He assured members that the PDP would contest the 2027 general elections.

Wike declared that the party would shock Nigerians with its strength. He added that the PDP umbrella remained wide enough to accommodate everyone who shared its goals.

Furthermore the faction zoned key positions including the presidency to the South and the chairmanship to the North. Leaders focused on repositioning the party ahead of the polls. The convention ended with a clear message of preparedness for national elections.
