The death toll from the recent attack on Tashan Maje, Saduro, and Runtuwa communities under Malale in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State has risen to 15 as of Sunday.
Local sources confirmed that two additional victims died on Saturday from injuries sustained during the assault, bringing the total number of fatalities to 15.
A local news platform, Voice Of Borgu, had earlier reported that suspected bandits launched the attack at about 6 p.m. on Friday, February 28, 2026.

During the initial assault, one person was confirmed dead, while another sustained a gunshot wound to the hand and was taken to hospital for treatment.
Residents said the attackers fled the communities shortly after the incident.
However, fear and tension remain high among locals amid concerns over possible further attacks.
“We call on security agencies and relevant authorities to intensify efforts in protecting these communities and ensuring that peace is restored. No citizen should live in constant fear—security and swift action are urgently needed,” the report said.
