Nigerian lawyer and human rights activist, Prof Chidi Odinkalu took to his official X account on Friday, August 15, 2025 to react after a court in Canada declared the All Progressive Congress, Nigeria’s ruling APC a terrorist organization.
According to a Nigerian Newspaper, PUNCH, the Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness said the All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, were implicated in political violence, democratic subversion and electoral bloodshed.
Reacting to the report, the Federal Government criticized the Canadian government for condemning an entire Party because of the offense of one or few people.

“The Federal Government of Nigeria, therefore, calls on the Canadian authorities to immediately retract this erroneous designation”.
Reacting to the report, Chidi Odinkalu said the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu thinks Canadian courts are like Nigerian courts.
According to Chidi Odinkalu on his official X account:
“These guys mistake Canadian courts for their Nigerian counterparts.”
