Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly Mudashiru Obasa and former Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode called on Nigerians to support President Bola Tinubu’s reelection in 2027. They spoke on Saturday at an interfaith prayer session organised by The Mandate Movement in Ikeja to mark Tinubu’s 74th birthday.
Obasa stressed that continuity of Tinubu’s administration would consolidate the gains of the Renewed Hope Agenda. He described the president as a pragmatic and visionary leader whose policies already reshape Nigeria’s socio-economic landscape.
Moreover, Obasa highlighted specific achievements. “The president’s initiatives, such as the removal of fuel subsidy, have increased revenues for states, while the Nigeria Education Loan Fund has created unrestricted access to higher education,” he said.
He also noted that the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway stands as one of the country’s most ambitious infrastructure projects with potential to boost economic growth and tourism.
Additionally, Obasa commended First Lady Oluremi Tinubu for her Renewed Hope Initiative. He said its food distribution, agricultural support for women, economic empowerment programmes and digital learning centres brought succour to many Nigerians.
He then urged Nigerians to re-elect Tinubu and all All Progressives Congress candidates in the 2027 general elections.
Former Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode also praised Tinubu’s leadership and legacy. “President Tinubu’s commitment to Nigeria’s progress is commendable, and it is our collective duty to support him so that the nation can fully reap the benefits of his reforms,” Ambode said.
He added that the president stabilised the country and its economy. He expressed confidence that Nigeria would continue to prosper under the administration.
Chief of Staff to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu Tayo Ayinde lauded Tinubu’s efforts to reposition the economy. Chairman of the House Committee on Information and Strategy Stephen Ogundipe and Planning Committee Chairman Lanre Ogunyemi joined the call. They urged Nigerians to celebrate the president’s achievements and pray for his sound health.
Political leaders, party faithful, community leaders, clerics and APC supporters from across Lagos State attended the event.
